This is going to be a short post today... but... something that really helped me and will be sure to help me well into my copywriting future is getting a critque.

I'm still preparing for my John Carlton crit, but I just finished watching Frank Kern do a crit on a letter.

I wrote in the past about the important question that needs to be asked (Who give's a #@%?)... it's from the same critique.

But I watched it again and really realized that you need to go back through your copy... or your advertisements... or your website copy and make sure you are talking to your prospect.

It's so easy to get sidetracked and start brain dumping about you and what you can do... but the prospect just cares about them.

Yeah, I know this is some real basic advice and something you will probably just pass over, but if you take 10 minutes and go through some of your own copy I'm willing to bet you can make it much stronger by just thinking...

"Am I talking to my prospect and telling them what's in it for them."

And finally, try not to make this process so complicated. Just sell and then tweak from there. With so many tools and the such on the market today, it gets hard to remember that things are not as complicated as they are presented to us to be.

It’s not to surprising that when I woke up from my two hour nap that my response rate jumped over 100%.

Face it, the things you can do on the Internet these days are great.

And this one is Multivariate Testing.

This is something you can only do on the Internet because it works for you. That is once you set everything up.

Multivariate testing, done through special pieces of software, allow you to set up different combinations of your sales letter copy, graphics, color, format… pretty much anything you want.

It will then automatically cycle through these possibilities and show the one that gets the highest response. And that makes you more money.

As a copywriter it’s great because you can just keep testing and product the best sales letters. As a business owner it is a must because it can mean the difference to making PPC work and not work… plus… that goes for email marketing too.

Here are some ones to check out…

1. Affiliate Prophet

This is a software that tracks things for PayPer Click, but they also have a great Multivariate testing component. The support is great and the software is great.

Highly recommended.

2. Muvar 2009

Not so recommended. I heard great things about this software, but I could not get it to work at all. You have to pay $5 to ask support a question and from the research I’ve done… they don’t help at all.

I do no recommend this.

3. Google Web Optimizer

Google has a great one that is free. However it only works with Google Adwords and not outside of that platform.

And then there are a bunch of high level solutions. If you are a direct response marketer, then I suggest you just stick with one of the three above.

If you have any in-depth questions, just shoot me an email and I’ll try to help more in regards to this subject.
