Top Five Ways To Research Your Market & Find True Desire

It’s like going on a first date. If you really like the person, you want to put your best foot forward and knock’em dead.

In order to do that… you have to do your background stalking. You have to know what they want, what their looking for, and where they are in the dating process.

So you grill everybody you know about the person, perhaps you Google their name, and check Facebook and Myspace.

When you have a business either online or off (which better have an online presence)… the process is the same.

Here are the top five ways to find your markets true desire…

1. Find Forums

Google your market and add the word "forum". There will most likely be many forums to choose from. Read the posts sure… but… here’s how to step up your game.

Register for an account and send private messages to people asking if you can talk with them on the phone. Just have your interview questions ready.

2. Find Competitor Products

Find who your competition is and read what their sales letters say. Read their testimonials, case studies, and the rest of what they offer. Watch for what hot buttons their hitting.

Way underground, pose as a potential customer and see what questions they ask you.

3. Facebook It

Do a search for your market in Facebook and see what people come up.

Send them a private message asking if you can talk to them and have your interview questions ready. This technique is one of my favorites and works great.

4. Current Customers

Talk to your current customers. Send them surveys, ask tons of questions, do private consultations to dig deeper in their mind.

Because they’ve bought from you, they should be a little more likely to talk and open up. Give them something for free to help.

5. Quantcast

Go to Quantcast.com and look at competitions sites and see what demographics the visitors are.

Do everything else you can to follow general market trends and see what’s happening on a bigger level that affects demand.

Use these tips to research your market. When you talk to your market… especially in person, you learn a ton. It’s truly a goldmine.
