5 Ways To Find the Groove & Get More Done In 2 Hours Than The Last 12
It’s like being on a caffeine high. You get that jittery, almost uncomfortable, feeling. Your heart feels like it’s going to jump out of your body… except… when you get into this groove you get things done.
I’m talking about that intense period of hard work when you get more done in 2 hours than you even came close to getting done in the last 5. I love these periods of time… and… the best thing is you can train yourself to go into these trances.
Here are 5 ways to find that elusive groove…
1. Work in a bright place that makes you happy…
Have you ever tried to get things done during a rain or thunderstorm? It’s near impossible. The depressing weather somehow infiltrates your spirit and all you want to do is sleep.
I suggest you find a bright place with awesome pictures on that wall… or a killer view. This type of environment lifts your spirit and that feeling passes onto your work. You get things done… and get them done quickly.
2. Commentate your work…
This sounds ridiculous but it really helps me… especially when I’m writing. I will read out loud as I type. This helps keep my thoughts in stream so I don’t confuse my reader by taking strange turns.
If you’re not writing… then become the announcer for the specific job you’re working on. Literally announce what you’re doing. You’ll be surprised that it keeps you on task an makes work more fun.
3. Find your trigger…
Find the trigger that lets your brain know it’s time to work. For me it’s music. A special mix I made. It really puts me into the mood and I start to get things done on hyper-speed mode.
Find something that triggers you into working on the level. It’s almost like a golfers pre-shot routine… you need a pre-work routine to make that transition.
4. Try to work as fast as possible...
I got this suggestion from Dan Kennedy. He suggests trying to work as fast as you can because it keeps you mind moving and the thoughts flowing. When you set a time to beat… you figure out a way to beat it.
They’ll be times when you seem to be missing the mojo going. It’s ok… just keep working and do your best because you’ll eventually hit the mark and start to blaze through your work.
5. Practice, practice… practice...
When you think you have found something that works, keep working with it and practice. If you don’t try to get into that groove… you’ll never be able to consistently work yourself into it.
You can even try to take notes about what seems to work and what doesn’t. That way when you NEED to get something done… you can refer to your notes and start kicking butt!
Use these 5 tips to find that groove. There is nothing better than looking at the clock and then realizing that you just got more done in 2 hours than 5 previous hours.
